I don’t believe in destiny.

In fate.

Or in soul mates.

But I believe in Hawke.

My life has never been whole since my parents left forever. I have my brother, someone I can barely tolerate most of the time, and I have my best friend, Marie.

And I have myself.

But when Hawke walks into my life, there’s an immediate connection. Our eyes lock and an unspoken conversation is exchanged. For the first time in my life, I actually feel something.

But he doesn’t.

He keeps me at arm’s length and pretends there’s nothing between us when there clearly is. I’m not the kind of girl to wait around for any guy, so I don’t.

But that doesn’t mean he isn’t in the back of my mind.

Our paths cross again in a way neither one of us expect and it changes everything. Was it destiny that made it happen? Was it fate?

Or was it something else?

I don't understand the love for toxic relationships. This reminds me of a 50 Shades fanfic. The only difference is that the male love interest isn't a millionaire. He's possessive, controlling and has serious anger issues. His mom is in an abusive relationship and his father used to beat him. The seeing red, breaking things when he is mad, and the volatile arguments that end in sex are ridiculous. The knife scene was ridiculous. He accidentally pushed her when he went after the drunk guy, and she had promised to kill him if he ever hurt her. So shows up at her house at 2am, expecting her to kill him with said knife??? Dude has some serious mental issues. It is always a gamble with free books that are first in a series. This is one I'm not continuing with. I really don't understand how it has so many high ratings.
  • Glorifies abuse, could be triggering

Terrible. I only made it 3/4 of the way through, but the main guy, who desperately tries to not turn out like his father, and begs his mom to leave her abusive husband, is abusive to his new girlfriend (the other main character). One scene, she tries pushing him off and he removes her jeans and forces himself on her without consent. He yells at her, breaks all of the stuff in his house, and girl is terrified of him, but the author romanticizes the relationship because they are "meant to be together". This book could trigger you. I was disgusted.

I cannot for the life of me figure out how this book got such great reviews. This book is entirely too long, has zero character building and anti climatic. I've never had to try to hard to finish a book ever. Take me word for it don't waster your time with this read.

First book I have read by this author. I was really great. I love how Hawke and Frankie were friends before they became lovers. I was sad that Hawke didn't love Frankie enough to fight for them, the way she did. I can't wait till I read Tuesday. I highly recommend this book.

First book by this author and OMG... I'm in love!? FABULOUS story!! Watching Frankie and Hawke struggle to find love... a first date ending in friendship and a friendship leading to finding your true soulmate. So many incredible characters, having dealt with and survived so much.. Yaya is a trip, Marie is a fabulous friend and Axle surely keeps it fun and exciting! Beautiful story about two people coming together and finding what they truly need in each other and unconditional love between two people that truly understand one another. But in the end can they move beyond their past? KILLER cliffhanger ending.. my heart is breaking and I'm left DYING to know where these two end up next!? HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommended read!!
